“The 39 Steps” by Patrick Barlow is a comic whodunit caper that will have your audience guessing and chuckling all the way to the final curtain. This is a rich, complex and massive sound design, featuring original music from New Zealand-based composer Anita Andreis. It includes a tension filled opening theme, and a wonderful theme for “Mr. Memory.” The sound design includes all of the straight sound effects required, including the the applause, laughter, telephone rings, and gunshots. The trains sequence includes all the whistles and brakes, and wind rushing by when Hannay opens the window.
There is great musical underscore for the chase sequence, and all of the BBC announcer voice overs are included. Cinematic transitions are provided for scene changes. Romantic themes are included for the tender moments with Pamela, and a great open for the transition to The London Palladium. This sound design is complete and turn-key and will save you dozens of hours of work in building out a complete soundscape for your show!
