Sound Design – “Sleuth”

"Sleuth" by Anthony Shaffer

A rich and orchestral sound design for “Sleuth,” the Tony Award winning mystery thriller by Anthony Shaffer that made its Broadway premier in 1970. This sound design was originally created for the inaugural production of ICT Rep, the Wichita Repertory Theater, in August of 2023. The Sound Design – “Sleuth” features lovely orchestral transitions and all sound effects called out in the “Sleuth” script. Music beds highlight the high tension moments in the twists and turns through the script. A creepy laugh sound effect for “Jack Tarr” the sailor puppet is included. Sound effects are also included for the door buzzer and a period telephone. The sound design includes all classical musical pieces called out in the script, as well as static, pops and scratching sound effects for the changing of the records on the turntable. A wonderful theme is echoed in the opening and closing sequences for the show. Mystery themed pre-show and intermission playlists are included.

This sound design package for “Sleuth” includes more than 50 cues and all required sound effects and musical transitions. We provide a complete cue sheet, our “Clean and Clear” easy-to-use prompt book, and control files for QLab® or Multiplay® audio control software. Pre-show and intermission playlists are included. Just copy the files, load your show, set your levels, and GO!
